Dawson Dawson-Watson, (1864-1939) was born in London, England July 21, 1864 and died on September 3, 1939.  He studied with Mark Fisher in Steyning, England. In Paris, he studied with; Carolus-Duran, Chartman, Collin, Aime Morot, and Leon Glaize. Dawson-Watson traveled to Giverny, France from 1885-1890. In 1893, at the urging of James Carol Beckwith, he traveled to the United States to paint in to New England. He stayed in New England until 1890 and then traveled to Woodstock, New York in 1891. From 1904 to 1915, Dawson-Watson taught at the St. Louis School of Fine Art. In 1927, he traveled to San Antonio and opened a studio, where he painted and taught.
