He studied under Carolus Duran and was a member of the Society of Indendent Artists, as well as, the Salon of America. Exhibited in the Paris Salon of 1888; Salons of the national Society of Beaux Arts in 1893; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1865 and 1904; the Salons of Americain 1925, 1932-34, and the Society of Independent Artists from 1922-1939.
